Tikkun Olam Focus

Our Focus for 2018 are the issues of Sanctuary and Immigrants.

The CBHT Board passed a resolution in 2017 committing the congregation to helping with the Sanctuary Movement in Western North Carolina, specifically the work of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Asheville (UUCA) to house families seeking sanctuary.

The Lotte Meyerson Tikkun Olam Committee will be:

  • working with the Board on ways to garner congregants’ help as this becomes reality.
  • looking at other ways to reach out to the immigrant community in WNC and provide opportunities for CBHT congregants to help this community in particular need this year.
  • continuing our advocacy efforts on behalf of Dreamers and other immigrant groups caught in our current political environment.

Congregants interested in participating in our sanctuary and immigrant support efforts should email tikkunolam@bethhatephila.org.

The committee additionally rededicated its focus on homelessness, food insecurity, and literacy.

See Tikkun Olam Projects for details.
